Status of Environmental Sanitation and Basic Necessities among the Traditional Prostitutes of Beria Caste of sagar District, (M.P.), India

Abstract

Most human rights treaties were drafted and adopted before environmental protection became a matter of international concern. As a result, there are few references to environmental matters in international human rights instruments, although the rights to life and to health are certainly included and some formulations of the latter right make reference to environmental issues. The study is conducted among the Berias of Lohari (Hawla) gram panchyayat of Rahatgarh block of Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, India. The present investigation is based on interview of 71 Beria females, of Loohari (Hawla) gram panchyayat come under the category of schedule caste, who engaged traditionally in prostitution. The present investigation has been conducted through interview schedule. Simultaneously, group discussion and informal interview method, has been used. Observation has been conducted through semi-participants methods. The objective of the present investigation is to study the status of environmental sanitation and basic necessities among the traditional prostitutes of the Beria caste of Sagar district Madhya Pradesh, India.
