Abstract

Two cultivars of urdbean namely T-9 and PU-35 raised under controlled environmental conditions revealed that T-9 was a susceptible variety to urdbean leaf crinkle virus (ULCV) and showed enhanced total chlorophyll content and total sugar but poor in total phenol, total protein content and NR activity. Whereas PU-35 was found to be moderately resistant type having high total phenols, total protein content and high PPO activity. High phenol content and enhanced PPO activity may be used as marker for germplasm screening for ULCV resistance.
