Various authors have advocated different parameters to determine ideal position of lower incisor. But not one parameter can be considered ideal for all the cases as it is influenced by a number of factors which are primarily functional, aesthetic, skeletal and periodontal. In this paper we have discussed all these factors which will help clinician to plan optimal positioning of lower incisor during orthodontic treatment according to individual needs.
