About the Journal (Clay Research)
Clay Research; published continuously since 1982 is the flagship journal of the Clay Minerals Society of India (CMSI). It is a not-for-profit professional science body and a member of AIPEA (Association Internationale pour I'Etude des Argiles).
Scope
Clay Research publishes articles of interest to the international community of ceramics, civil and petroleum engineering, clay mineralogy, crystallography, geochemistry, geology, material sciences, nanotechnology, pedology, petrochemical, petrology, pharmaceutical, physical and colloid chemistry, physics, soil science, and host of other kindred academic and industrial disciplines with focus on clay minerals.
Types of Publication
Clay Research publishes original experimental and descriptive research articles, explorative and theme-based research articles, reviews, discussion and position papers, and Foundation Lecture; all of which are peer reviewed. It also covers scientific correspondence, book reviews and short report.
Periodicity
Clay Research is published in English and biannually in June and December.
Indexing and Abstracting
Clay Research is indexed in Google Scholar, CNKI Scholar, EBSCO Discovery, and Summon (ProQuest), and included in the Indian Citation database. In 2019, Clay Research had SCImago Impact Factor of 0.22; H-Index of 5; Ranking among ALL international journals is 26102; and SJR of 0.18. Currently, it has a NAAS (India) rating of 4.37, and placed in approved UGC (India) list.
Contributors Profile
Clay Research welcomes authors irrespective of their nationality, race, gender and membership of the CMSI. It does not charge authors any fees for submission.
Publication Policy
All submitted articles including reviews, invited articles and manuscripts on Foundation Lecture and primary research papers undergo double-blind peer-review process, plagiarism compliance, and editorial scrutiny before publication. The articles published in Clay Research contain Digital Object Identifier (doi), and display ORCID Ids of authors, their affiliations, contributions of every author, and conflicts of interest.
Instructions to the Contributors
Manuscript must be composed in English in MS Word (2007 or above) format with double line space; Times New Roman; font size 12. Manuscripts should be prepared with page and line numbered with wide margins and double spacing throughout, i.e., also for abstracts, footnotes and references. Internationally accepted signs and symbols for units (SI units) should be used throughout. Negative exponents should be used instead of a slash, e.g., m s-2 rather than m/s2. It might be restricted to sixteen typed pages including tables and illustrations. Intending contributors should consult a recent issue of Clay Research for the standard format and style.
Title should contain manuscript title in full, full name(s) of author(s), affiliations of the author(s), footnotes if any to the title, and complete mailing address with e-mail ID of the corresponding author, and ORCID ID(s) of all authors. Title should be concise and informative. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible. The manuscript may have the following distinct sections: Abstract, Keywords, Graphical Abstract (optional), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion and References. Abstract should be a condensation of the ideas, objectives, results, and conclusion of the paper. It might be restricted within 250 words. Please avoid including reference in the abstract. Keywords: Please provide 5-7 keywords. Please do not repeat words from title. Graphical Abstract must be single, concise, pictorial and visual summary of the main findings of the article. It could either be the concluding figure from the article or a figure that is specially designed for the purpose, which captures the content of the article for readers at a single glance. Tables should have the simplest possible column headings. Please type each table on a separate page and indicate placement in the text by marking in the margin of text page/highlighter. Figures: Please supply all figures electronically. Authors are encouraged to embed their figures in the document near the paragraph in which they are first referenced. Figures (including diffractograms, spectra) should be self-illustrative, preferably in black. The lettering should be large enough to permit size reduction to one Journal page column width (about 7.0 cm) without sacrificing legibility. The size of the drawing should not exceed 24 × 17 cm. Give the numbered legend on a separate sheet, not on the figure itself. Data available in the tables should not be duplicated in the form of illustrations. Indicate the location of the figure in the text by marking in the margin of the page. Ensure that each figure has a caption. A caption should comprise a brief title (not on the figure itself) and a description of the figure. Keep text in the caption to a minimum but explain all symbols and abbreviations used. Supply all figures electronically. Authors are encouraged to embed their figures in the document near the paragraph in which they are first referenced. Photographs should be in the form of glossy prints with strong contrast/jpg format. In photomicrographs, the scale in micron or other suitable unit should be drawn on the print. Mark the place of the photograph in the text in the margin of the text. References should be cited in the text by the name(s) of author(s) if two or less, and year of publication. If there are more than five authors, give the name of the first author followed by ‘et al.’ and year. Acknowledgements: Please collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article before the references. Please disclose contribution of authors and conflict of interest. References: In this section, please provide full references giving author(s) and initial(s), year, title of paper, followed by name of the journal in full, volume, (preferably issue), and pages. References must be arranged alphabetically.

Ethical Responsibilities
Submission is an undertaking that the manuscript has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Corresponding authors, on behalf of all the authors of a submission, must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. Examples of potential conflicts of interest include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding. Authors are required to share their ORCID IDs and transfer copy right to the Clay Research. They are required to declare contributions of each author, and Conflicts of Interest. Published paper display these declarations. Clay Research follows Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)'s guidelines, although it is not a member of COPE.
