Abstract

Dhaka is an overcrowded and the biggest city in Bangladesh and informal business is a well-known concept here. A large number of people are engaged in this sector in the city to earn their livelihood. Many people work as street vendors in this city. Street vending is the means of earning livelihood for many less educated or less qualified people. This study reveals that the income level of street vendors is not so high. The engagement of young and mid-aging people is high in street vending. Education and work experience cannot add any value for street vendors to earn more money. However, the vendors who put more effort can earn more money. So, the age of the vendors does matter here. It can be thought that age and self-motivation of the vendors are very important for earning more money as well as key to success.
