Effect of N and Energy Supplementation of Wheat Straw for Maintenance Requirements Gill R.S., Chauhan T.R., Ichhponani J.S. Department of Animal Science, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana-141004, India Online published on 21 January, 2012. Abstract Four experiments were conducted to find out the nutritive value of wheat straw(WS), WS +Groundnut cake (WSC); WS+nreu (WSU) and WS + urea +molasses (WSUM) rations in mature male buffaloes to meet their maintenance requirements. The DCP value of the rations improved from 0.31 to 4.0% by the addition of urea or GNC as the nitrogen source. There was also a slight improvement in the TON values from 52.77 to 56.1l%. The nitrogen balance studies indicated that YYS and WSU ration failed to keep animals in nitrogen equilibrium but other two rations i.e., WSC and WSUM maintained the animals in positive balance. The DE and ME values improved from 1.98 to 2.12 and 1.65 to 1.73 Kcal/g respectively. Top | |
