Abstract The present study compares a soybean based oligidic diet for tobacco caterpillar Spodoptera litura (F.) with other artificial diets. The results revealed that populations reared on soybean-based diet showed a significant reduction in total larval (16.3 days) and life cycle periods (35.65 days) with high development indices and survival (81.23%).
