Abstract

Purpose

The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare the shear bond strength of porcelain repair system using Ni-Cr and Co-Cr alloys.

Method

Thirty discs of base metal alloy were fabricated and divided into 5 subgroups Control, Roughened with the diamond point, Air abrasion/Sandblasting Hydrofluoric acid treatment, Phosphoric acid treatment. Shear bond strength testing and mode of failure was evaluated using ANOVA and Post Hoc Tukey Test,

Results

The least bond strength was seen in the control group and the highest in Air abrasion followed by hydrofluoric acid.

Conclusion

Use pf intraoral porcelain repair may be considered as the viable and economical treatment option,
