The Role of Some Vitamins in Iraqi Patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome Almashhadani Zuhair. Abstract The aim of the present study is to evaluate a change in plasma antioxidant vitamins and their correlation between clinical findings and functional status in patients with FM. This study has included sixty patients with FMS (40 females+20males) and thirty healthy control with age range (18–72) years. The clinical diagnosis of these patients was confirmed by the consultant rheumatologists of the Baghdad teaching to ACR criteria for the diagnosis of FMS. Vitamins (A, E and C) were measured using high performance liquid chromatography. Fat soluble vitamins (A and E) were separated on NH2 column isocratically after obtaining optimum conditions (temperature, flow rate, eluent composition), while water soluble vitamin C was separated using reversed phasec-18 column. Our study concluded that, Vit A, E. and C play an important role in the treatment of Fibromyalgia syndrome, Treatment of fibromyalgia involve non pharmacologic and pharmacologic therapy no pharmacologic therapy is the cornerstone of treatment of fibromyalgia like regular aerobic exercise and cognitive behavioral therapy, while pharmacological therapy include using pregabalin which is approved by V.S food and drug administration for treatment of fibromyalgia.
