The Effect of Psycososial Stimulation Assistance, Child Feeding and Children Health Care to Growth, Motor Development and the Decrease Frequency of Upper Respiratory Tract Infections for Stunting Children 2–3 Years of Age

Abstract

Background

Basic Health Research 2018 showed that the prevalence of national stunting is still high at 30, 8%. That is, the growth problem suffered by around 8.9 million Indonesian children, or one in three Indonesian children.

Objective

To explain the effect of psychosocial stimulation, child feeding assistance and child health care on growth, motor development and prevention of respiratory infections over Stunting under-fives aged 2–3 years.

Method

Experimental research, consists of two stages. The first stage is the in-depth interview method. The results of the first phase of the study form the basis for the making of psychosocial modules. The second stage is intervention, namely the implementation of modules in the field. The sample was stunting children aged 2–3 years, the sample size was 30 children consists of 15 children as a intervention group and 15 children in the control group. Statistical analysis used was the T test and the Man-Whitney test at 95% confidence.

New Results

Psychosocial stimulation interventions, child feeding assistance and child health care influenced the increase in height, weight, head circumference, gross motoric, smooth motor, frequency of Upper Respiratory Tract Infection in stunting children, and statistically significant influence, except the variable weight.

Conclusion

Psychosocial stimulation interventions, child feeding assistance and child health care affect the increase in height, weight, head circumference, gross motor, fine motor, frequency of Upper Respiratory Tract Infection in stunting children.
