Abstract Temporomandibular joint is pivotal for normal functioning of jaws and any disarray in the joint may cause discomfort in chewing, speaking, opening and closing of the jaws. Temporomandibular disorders have vast etiologies including the psychological factors, hereditary factors, trauma being the common cause and no definite treatment protocol has still been researched. This article gives recapitulation of various articles describing the key etiology, research diagnosis criteria and effective treatment protocol.
