Abstract Low back pain is a work-related disease which can be caused by doing heavy work by manual handling. Dock work is one of heavy works which still tend to use man power. The objective of this study is to identify indicators for low back pain, including age, years of working, weight burden and work attitude of dockworkers at Soekarno Hatta Port of Makassar. This is an observational analytic study using a cross sectional approach. Data sampling was conducted in March 2018 from 78 dockworkers recruited by simple random sampling. Age, years of working and burden weight were obtained from questionnaire, while data about work attitude was obtained from Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) questionnaire and low back pain data from Oswestry Disability Index. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to analyze data. Results showed that there is an association between age, (t-statistic=1. 964) and low back pain. No association were found between years of working (t-statistic = 0. 160), burden weight (t-statistic = 1. 070) and work attitude (t-statistic = 1.671) on low back pain in dockworkers at Soekarno Hatta Port of Makassar.
