Herbicidal Control of Weeds in Maize Singh D. J. Chandra1, Rao K. Narayana2 1Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Agricultural College, Bapatla 2Weed Control Scheme, Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Agricultural College, Bapatla Abstract Field trials were conducted on statistical basis at the Maize Breeding Station, Amberpet both in Kharif and Rabi seasons during 1971–72. Herbicides like Tafazine, Atra-taf, Atrataf + Sutan and Lasso were used at different doses. The results indicate that Atrataf at 4.48 kg/ha in combination with Sutan at 1.25 gal./ha was found to be the best treatment, followed by hand weeding treatment. Next in rank Atrataf @4.48, 6.72 kg/ha and Lasso at 3.0 and 6.0 L/ha respectively were observed with satisfactory weed control and good grain yields. Hence Atrataf alone @ 6.72 kg/ha or combination of Atrataf at 4.48 kg/ha and Sutan at 1.25 gal./ha can be recommended for usage. Top | |
