Online published on 5 November, 2018. Abstract The purpose of our study was to investigate bacteria associated with pneumonia in goats reared under semi-intensive system. Ten pneumonic goats suffering from pneumonia were investigated for bacterial isolation with its antibiogram pattern. From all the pneumonic goats, Klebsiella pneumonia was isolated by biochemical testing. Antibiotic sensitivity pattern showed highest resistance to Ampicillin (AMP), Amoxycillin/Clavulanic acid and Penicillin (100 percent each) followed by Tetracycline (92.86 percent), Co-trimoxazole (50.0 percent), Cefoperazone, Ceftriaxone, Cefotaxime (42.86 percent each) and Ciprofloxacin (35.71 percent), Chloramphenicol, Enrofloxacin, Gentamicin, Levofloxacin (66.67 percent each) and (22.22 percent) and lowest in Cefaclor (07.14 percent). Multiple drug resistance was observed in all the 10 isolates ranging from resistance to 4–11 antibiotics. All bacterial isolates from goats suffering from pneumonia in winter season were Klebsiella pneumoniae with potential risk for human health.
