Diagnosis and Management of Liver Abscess in a Dog

Abstract

A Rottweiler dog with history of relapsing fever, inappetance, lethargy, occasional vomition and weight loss since one month was diagnosed with liver abscess using ultrasonography and cytology. The dog was treated by alcoholization of abscess after percutaneous drainage under ultrasound guidance along with systemic antimicrobial therapy. Immediate recovery was observed and no complications was recorded up to six months following treatment.
