Twelve buffaloes were included in the study of which six were normal parturient buffaloes without any complications while six buffaloes suffered from retained fetal membranes (RFM). All buffaloes were subjected for gynaeco-obstetrical examination and hemato-biochemical investigations in relation to RFM. Treatment of affected animals included institution of fluid therapy, systemic antibiotic and prostaglandin injection. Blood picture showed leukocytosis with moderate anaemia and monocytosis. Serum biochemical estimation revealed significantly low level of calcium and increased level of alkaline phosphatase in RFM affected graded Murrah buffaloes.
