Abstract The aim of study was to compare the diagnostic efficacy of commercially available rapid fecal antigen detection kit ‘ScanVet Parvo’ with polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A total of 50 fecal samples from dogs showing suggestive clinical signs of parvovirus infection were collected aseptically. The ScanVet Parvo was able to detect CPV antigen in 34 (68.00 percent) samples, While using PCR, 43 samples (86.00 percent) were found positive including 9 ScanVet Parvo negative samples. Chi square analysis also showed significant difference between the results. However, the specificity and sensitivity of ScanVet Parvo was100.00 percent and 79.07 percent, respectively versus PCR. ScanVet Parvo can be employed for preliminary screening of CPV in field condition because of its economy and rapid results but negative samples should be re-confirmed through PCR.
