Abstract

Post-partum regular cyclic non-breeder cows which failed to settle even after three inseminations with normalcy of genital organ were selected for the study. A total of fifty five (55) repeat breeder crossbred cows were evaluated on basis of Metricheck score and white side test of cervical mucus and antibiotic sensitivity test. A total of thirty six (36) crossbred cows were included having mild to moderate endometritis. Twenty-four infectious repeat breeder cows were treated with Enrofloxacin long acting @ 7.5 mg/kg b. wt. and Metronidazole @ 15 mg/kg b. wt. by parental route on first to fourth day of oestrus whereas twelve (12) cows were kept as untreated control. Group-I cows (n=12) were inseminated during subsequent estrus, group-II cows (n=12) were inseminated in the same oestrus whereas control animals were followed with routine insemination pattern. Conception rate in treated animals was found to be 91.67, 83.33 and 00.00 percent, respectively. Pregnancy rate observed in ‘treatment and subsequent estrus insemination protocol’ and ‘treatment and insemination protocol’ were observed to be 91.67 and 75.00 percent, respectively as against nil response in control group, It was concluded that there is necessity to inseminate infectious repeat breeder crossbred cows in subsequent cycle only after complete and appropriate treatment.
