Abstract

The Experiment was conducted at Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, UHS, Bagalkot during the year 2018-19. The experiment was laid out using randomized block design (RBD) with twenty five genotypes of portulaca and three replications. The observation on plant growth parameters indicated that, plant height has positive and significantly (both at p = 0.01 and p = 0.05) correlation with foliage yield per plant (rP = 0.301), number of leaves per plant (rP = 0.304), number of branches per plant (rP = 0.613), number of nodes (rP= 0.297), stem girth (rP = 0.808), fresh weight of plant (rP = 0.396) and vitamin-A content (rP = 0.383). It was also significantly (at p = 0.05) and positively correlation with secondary branches (rP = 0.268). Number of leaves per plant had positive and significantly (both at p = 0.01 and p = 0.05) correlated with foliage yield per plant (rP = 0.606). Vitamin A content had positive and significantly (both at p= 0.01 and p = 0.05) correlated with foliage yield per plant (rP=0.352) and found that negatively significant correlated with Iron (rP= 0.217). Plant height had positive and significant correlation with foliage yield per plant (rg= 0.301) and it had high positive and direct effect (4.54) on foliage yield per plant, it had high positive indirect effect through secondary branches (2.483), plant spread e-w (1.21), number of leaves (0.442) and number of branches (0.717).
