Abstract

Journalism education has fast metamorphosed into media or communication programs without much visible shifts in aims of its potential in Bangladesh. Such shift is required to prepare competent professional for the industry. The recent move of journalism departments towards social science faculties in the light of the demand in various job markets do not congregate media needs in Bangladesh. Making such a move meaningful would require redesigning curriculum at the university level. This article seeks to examine the necessity of redesigning the curricula by analyzing the contemporary worldwide trends of journalism education and the context of Bangladesh needs.
