Abstract

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite based surveying, mapping, and navigation system for determination of precise position and time using radio signals from satellites, in real time or in post - processing mode. GPS is being used all over the world for determining the co-ordinates and baselines of important infrastructure networks. A study was carried out in AP Transco to implement a scientific and modem methodology and to carry out maintenance oftransmission network and to improve the operational efficiency. As a part of the study, Transmission network mapping was done using GPS survey and Geographical Information System (GIS) techniques.
