Abstract The term “Serial Killer” today has become a catch-phrase with the popular press churning out books and movies centred on the serial killer. Some cases of serial killings appearing in electronic and print media from time to time are summarized in this paper with discussion on the possible causes and background of serial killings and role of forensic medicine and other experts in the investigation of the heinous crime, measures to treat the offenders and check the incidences.
