Re-Inventing Leadership Style to Create High-Performance for Women Leaders in Library and Information Science Professions George Adeola Esther Librarian, Nimbe Adedipe Library, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun-State Nigeria Email id: adeolageorge2004@yahoo.com Online published on 6 September, 2019. Abstract Women constitute more than half of Nigeria's population and unless they are allowed to develop, the enormous potential possessed by them will remain untapped and Nigeria will continue to wallow in poverty. Women in the world from time are accorded the status of second class citizens. They have been victims of gender discrimination though the degree and intensity varies from country to country. There is little wonder then that women have at all times formed pressure groups to assert their rights particularly freedom from discrimination. Women should be encouraged to occupy leadership roles in the society just as their male counterparts and when they do, they should be given the enabling environment to perform excellently. This is aimed at focusing on the library and Information-Science Professions and its functions with a view of re-inventing or rebranding good leadership style for the profession in an attempt to create better and high performance for women leaders in the profession. Qualities of a good leader are discussed Top Keywords Invent, Women, Library and information-science, Profession, Leadership, Highperformance. Top | |
