Abstract

During intensive survey of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) fields during the years 2007 and 2008, twenty seven insect-pest species were recorded. Maximum pests were recorded from order Lepidoptera (29.62%) followed by Coleoptera (25.93%), while the orders Diptera, Thysanoptera and Isoptera recorded 3.7% pests each. Population of Diamond back moth (Plutella xylostella L.), Semi looper (Trichoplusia ni Hübner) and Tobacco caterpillar, (Spodoptera litura F) were relatively higher. The predators (rove beetle, Paederussp. and lady bird beetle, Coccinellaseptum punctata L.) and the parasitoids (Diaeretiella rapae, McIntosh and Cotesia plutellae, Kurdjumov) were also recorded.
