A Subaltern Study of Aravind Adiga's The White Tiger

Abstract

This paper portrays some of the social evils, prevalent in the Indian society such as poverty, unemployment, caste and culture conflict, dowry practice, economic disparity, Zamindari system, corrupted educational system, poor health services, etc., This paper reveals how the protagonist Balram overcomes all these social obstacles and become a successful entrepreneur by mischief. He is the man of action and change. He was born and brought up in darkness but his actions changed his life from darkness into light. He is depicted as the white tiger in this novel because a normal man cannot come out of the coop but a white tiger can.
