The objective of this paper is to obtain the correlations between the UCS, density and Schmidt hardness-rebound number (R) of two different rocks i.e. Sandstone and Biotite Gneiss. These rocks were obtained-from central Indian and southern peninsular Indian regions respectively. Experiments were carried out in laboratory for uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and density. These results were compared with-rebound numbers obtained through two different Schmidt hammers (N-type & L-type). And, by regression-analyses the statistical correlations between Schmidt hardness rebound numbers, UCS and Density were established.
