Online published on 22 April, 2015. Abstract Introduction Dental trauma is an irreversible pathology that after occurrence is characterized by life-long debilitating effects. These injuries often occur at a young age and are characterized by irreversibility, pain, high costs, and treatment burden. Traumatic dental injury has been also demonstrated to have psychological and social impacts on the affected children. Aim The objectives of this study were to measure the prevalence of traumatic dental injuries in children of Patiala and to correlate these injuries with various parameters like age, sex, type and location of teeth involved. Materials and methods 842 children of age 7 to 14 years were examined for any dental injury from Patiala. Age, sex, location of injury and type of injury and dentition involved were the parameters taken into consideration. Result and Conclusions 10.7% of children were found to have traumatic injury. Boys were found to be affected more than girls. It was also found that injury outside home was more common and anterior teeth were more prone to injury.
