Abstract

This paper illustrates a model metadata element set called the Indian e-Governance Metadata Set that is a derivative drawn from the study of the globally accepted e-Governance metadata standards. It considers the needs for e-Governance Information Management also in the context of India. The model metadata element set is applicable in the sector of information management and interoperability of e-governance information in our domestic scenario. The proposal of metadata framework can be described as a mode of e-Governance information meant to be useful for electronic machines/computers and intelligent agents that infer or interpret the data using semantic web concepts to achieve semantic interoperability. This study also suggests an appropriate number of authority lists for assigning values to the proposed element set.
