Online published on 28 May, 2014. Abstract Information retrieval through internet has now reached its second phase or edition, as is evident from the somewhat audacious use of the term Web 2.0. Web 2.0 facilitates users to modify, contribute and create their own identities in innovative ways. It is like a social phenomenon that not just connects people together, but generates and contributes to the web contents itself. The present study focuses on the awareness level and the usage of Web 2.0 tools among the library and information science (LIS) professionals working in the engineering colleges of Odisha state. The result of the study reveals that most of the LIS professionals are knowledgeable about computer and Information Technology (IT), and majority of the professionals have used it for the last 5–10 years. Google is the most popular search engine, and maximum (80.5%) respondents are aware of Web 2.0 tools. Top Keywords Web 2.0, LIS professionals, Blogs, Wikis, Engineering colleges. Top |
