Abstract The cases of sexual victimisation against the women are rising fast across the country. Today women are being targeted for rape, molestation and eve-teasing by the known and unknown persons. These cases have certainly affected the way of life and sense of well being of the women. They are also being deprived to live a respectable and dignified life due to this sexual victimisation. The study explores the victim-offender relationship and examines the impact of socio-economic changes in increasing sexual victimisation. This study is based on content analysis. The data have been collected through two national news papers, namely, Amar Ujala and Dainik Jagran from March 2013 to May 2013. The study finds that in many cases known persons have targeted women for the sexual victimisation. The study also indicates that sexual victimisation is increasing due to changes in value system of the family, technological innovation and rapid urbanisation.
