So, it's important to make use of innovative teaching strategies such as mind mapping. Mind mapping develops the learning by ensuring information retention, recalling and promoting critical thinking. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of mind mapping technique on information retrieval among nursing students. Evaluative research approach was followed. True experimental research design was adopted. Preinterventional knowledge was assessed to categorize the students. Homogeneity was maintained in assigning the samples to experimental and control groups. Traditional text book reading was given to control group and mind mapping learning technique was given to experimental group. The post assessment was done on day seven for both groups. It was found that the mean score of experimental group is 10.07, which is slightly greater than the mean score of control group (8.4). One week after the intervention the experimental group mean score (12) was higher than the control group mean score (11.22). The obtained't' value of experimental group (3.24) was higher than the't' value of control group (1.75). The p value is 0.0016 for the experimental group which is statistically significant at the level of 0.05%. Nursing students perceived mind mapping as a useful and effective method in retrieval of learned information. It is evident from the study findings that mind mapping as learning technique is very helpful for students to learn subject content more effectively and creatively also it improves their ability to retain memory and recall.
