Abstract

A healthy life is the dream of every individual, irrespective of any physical or social difference with oral health being important for the achievement and maintenance of general health. Though dental caries has affected humans since prehistoric times, the prevalence of the disease has greatly increased in modern times on a worldwide basis. A basic oral health survey provides a sound basis for estimation of the present oral health status of the population and its future needs for oral health care. This survey has been done on a study population of 1500 five year old children for distribution and prevalence of dental caries according to gender and religion in Meerut city in Uttar Pradesh, India.
