Abstract The main purpose of this study is to find out the awareness and information source about COVID 19, which in turn will help to reduce the mortality rate, help in adopting all protective health behaviors, and will also help in prevention, control and mitigation during pandemic. A questionnaire was prepared having a total of 25 questions out of which 17 questions are related to awareness about COVID 19, and 8 questions are related to information sources on COVID 19. Google forms were used to collect the data. An online link was generated and the response was received from 130 respondents. The data was collected from the 3rd week of April 2020 to 4th week of April 2020. It is found that the respondents have an average level of awareness and social media seems to play a dominant role in the source of information regarding COVID 19, and the preferred medium for creating awareness on COVID 19 is posters. When compared to male respondents female respondents have a high level of awareness about COVID 19. Considering the continuous increase of the positive patients and that the lockdown will continue this data will be helpful in decision making to create awareness and to provide time land supportive information to mitigate the pandemic.
