Abstract

Age estimation is an important aspect of forensic odontology. Enamel color is of great significance in estimation of the age of the individual. The color of maxillary anteriors of 500 randomly selected patients were matched using a dental shade guide. The enamel color was found to be associated with the chronological age. Linear regression analysis was used to calculate the age of the individual. Underestimates of age were seen in the age less than 25 years and overestimates were seen in the age greater than 48 years.
