Online Published on 4 October, 2023. Abstract The major objective of the present investigation was to extract a natural polymer (okra mucilage) with its characterization as a pharmaceutical binder and to formulate, develop and evaluate the compression of tablet using okra binder. Binders are agent employed to impart cohesiveness to the granules. This ensures the tablet remain intact after compression. The researcher is trying to find new excipient for potential use of binding agent in tablet formulation continues to the interest. This is because different binding agent can be useful in achieving various tablet mechanical strength and drug release properties for different pharmaceutical purpose. The result presented here shows that the mucilage obtained from okra can be used as a binder in paracetamol tablets formulation with good physical properties. Tablet of long disintegration times were produced, hence it’s potential in binding and prepare the granule of pharmaceutical formulation.
