Abstract

A study was conducted on different evaporative cooling systems viz. Pot type, Almirah model, Basket type and Zero energy cool chamber for storage of food items. Temperatures lower than ambient in different models was 12–13°C, 13–15°C, 13–14°C, and 12–13°C in Pot type, Almirah model, Basket types and Zero Energy and chamber respectively when the ambient temperature was at its peak of 48°C in the afternoon hours. The corresponding cooling efficiencies were 80%, 90%, 90% and 83%.
