Abstract

The practice of dentistry has included the use of lasers since the mid-1960s. Lasers are becoming increasingly popular due to the advent of office-based lasers, which are small, portable, and easy to manipulate within the oral cavity. Lasers traditionally have been used in Dentistry for dentinal hypersensitivity, modification of the dentin structure, pulp diagnosis, pulp capping and pulpotomy, cleaning and shaping of the root canal system, and endodontic surgery and in OMS For-prosthetic surgery, for the excision of benign and malignant lesions, for the excision of vascular lesions, and in the treatment of coagulopathic patients. When it comes to laser safety, there are no compromises. All dental practitioners should have the knowledge and detailed information about guidelines of laser safety and understand it thoroughly before activating any laser within the practice.
