Online Published on 06 February, 2023. Abstract The present study was carried out to compare the economic aspects of processed and non-processed turmeric farmers in middle Gujarat for 120 each processed non-processed respondents using primary data during 2017-18 and 2018-19. The results indicated that the total cost per hectare, including processing charges, was higher for processed (210887 per ha) than non-processed farmers (170922 per ha). However, a significant difference was observed in price per unit, gross return, the net return, and benefit-cost ratio realized by the farmers who were selling the produce in powder form as compared to fresh, thus made a significantly higher profit in processed than non-processed. The sum of elasticity coefficients for both the categories was more than one indicating increasing returns and operating in the first zone of production. Top Keywords Comparative economics, Non-processed, Processed, Resource use efficiency, Turmeric. Top | |
