Nutritional profile of elderly subjects of Hisar Chaudhary Preeti, Kawatra Asha Department of Foods & Nutrition, CCS Haryana Agricultural Uaiversity, Hisar-125 001 (Indian). Online published on 29 October, 2012. Abstract The present study was conducted in 120 elderly subjects of Hisar district to study the food and nutrient intake by elderly subjects. Majority of rural as well as urban subjects were vegetarian. Daily mean jmake of cereals, pulses, green leafy vegetables, roots and tubers, other vegetables, fruits and fats and oils were significantly (P < 0.05) lower than RDA, whereas consumption of milk and milk products and sugar was significantly (P < 0.05) higher than RDA. Daily mean intake of energy, iron, thiamine, riboflavin and vitamin C was significantly (P < 0.05) lower than RDA. Protein intake was adequate and intake of calcium, vitamin A was significantly highir than RDA in elderly subjects. Top |
