Online published on 2 January, 2017. Abstract Sugarcane is cash crop and main source of income for millions of people in the Maharashtra, India as well as in world. The study was conducted in Karveer, Panhala and Shahuwadi tahsilsof Kolhapur district. Expost-facto design of social research was made in the present investigation. The data were collected from 45 sugarcane growers and jaggery processor for the study. The findings revealed that most (82.22%) of the respondents had medium level of knowledge about recommended jaggery production technology. Independent variables viz., age, education, land holding, annual income, size of family, source of information, social participation, and market orientation of the jaggery processor showed significant correlation with knowledge level of the jaggery processor about recommended production technology of jaggery. All the respondents had completely knowledge about planting seasons of sugarcane, ridges and furrow method of planting, drip irrigation, sugarcane varieties like Co. 92005 and Co. 86032 and planting material like three eye bud setts. A few number of respondents (8.89%) had knowledge about Rain gun method of irrigation, hand refractometer (8.89%), improved rotary filter (26.67%). Majority of respondents had known to pH of juice (71.12%), 77.78 per cent of respondents had knowledge about use of pH meter and moulding at 76°C temp. and export of jaggery to abroad market (44.45%) therefore majority of respondents prefer wholesale market for his products Top Keywords Knowledge; Jaggery; Production Technology.
