Abstract The present investigations were carried out on kharif onion during 2016–17 at the processing laboratory of Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The experimental material comprised eight treatments in completely randomized design with three replications. Results revealed that the maximum physiological loss in weight, rotting percentage and sprouting percentage were observed in the bulbs without neck while the bulbs with the retention of foliage helped in enhancing the shelf-life of kharif onion.
