Abstract

Early blight (Alternaria solani) and powdery mildew (Leveillula taurica) of tomato are the important diseases causing heavy losses in the yield. The experiment was conducted for three years on the management of early blight and powdery mildew in tomato. It is recommended to undertake alternate sprays of fungicides mancozeb 75 WP @ 0.25% (2 sprays) and Tebuconazole 25 EW @ 0.05% (2 sprays) at 15 days interval starting from the appearance of the disease was found to be most effective in controlling the disease with better yield. The treatment T4 (i.e. four sprays of Tebuconazole 25 EW @ 0.05% at 15 days interval with the onset of the disease) was also equally effective in the management of powdery mildew and early blight disease of tomato and there by increasing the yield and net returns.
