Abstract

In this age of digital information and communication, technology provides access to everything electronically or directly through Internet. Academicians and publishers are of the opinion that there is no role of librarian in this age. In view of changing environment for accessing and dissemination of information, librarians play a vital role as they are also responsible for building digital libraries, institutional repositories, virtual and automated libraries. In order to serve the users with micro-level information, library professional need to perform as intermediary, facilitator, end-user trainer, web architect, interface designer, knowledge manager, information scientist consultant and also a resource administrator.
