Abstract An experiment was conducted to study the performance of Indian and exotic varieties of gladiolus under Banda agro-climatic conditions of Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. In this experiment 23 varieties of gladiolus namely (Indian: Praha, Shabnam, Gunjan, Chandani, Punjab Lemon Delight, Punjab Pink Elegance, Shagun, Punjab Dawn, Punjab Glance, Pusa Subham, Pusa Kiran and Exotic: Big Time Supreme, Fidelio, Snow Princess, Flirt, Sylvia, White Prosperity, C.P.G., Glad-6, Nova Lux, American Beauty, Green Sapphire, Royal Jubilee) were planted for evaluation of various flowering traits. Experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications. Healthy corms of gladiolus varieties were planted at 30 × 20 cm distance during November 2020. Uniform cultural practices were followed for all the varieties. There was significant difference among the varieties with respect to vegetative, flowering and yield characters. Among the twenty three gladiolus cultivars studied Praha and Punjab Glance and Fidelio were found superior in terms of growth parameters andPunjab Pink Elegance and Pusa Subham, Pusa Kiran, Punjab Lemon Delight forfloral characters, spike yield and corm yield.
