Sudden Death Due to Rupture Esophageal Varices: a Case Report.

Abstract

In patients with esophageal varices, hemorrhage is common and often lethal and is one of the most serious complications of cirrhosis. Majority of persons who survived initial episode experienced rebleeding within one year which has a mortality rate of 33%. In the present case, the patient had an episode of rebleeding from esophageal varices, 6 months after the first episode which proved fatal.
