Analysing the Effect of Socio-Demographic Factors on Consumers' Pre-Purchase Behaviour: A Study in the Context of Durables Kumar Dharmendra, Assistant Professor Department of Commerce, Government P.G College Lohaghat Champawat, Uttarakhand. dr.dheeraj1972@gmail.com. Abstract The present study deals with analysis of pre-purchase behaviour of the consumers regarding durables namely, Television (B/W), Television (Colour), Scooter, Motorcycle, Fridge, and Washing machine. Special consideration has been given to socio-economic and demographic effect on pre-purchase behaviour of consumers regarding the above mentioned durables. This paper also discloses various important aspects of durables about which prospective consumers feel necessary to gain information. Data has been collected by pre-tested questionnaires from 500 consumers of durables from different districts in the state of Haryana. Statistical techniques like percentage method, chi-square test, ranking method, correlation and ‘t’ test are used to analyse the data.
