Abstract

In the present information society information seeking has become a basic activity for all scholars who seek information for their various needs. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the information seeking behaviour and library usage pattern of social science faculty and research scholars of Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. Survey method was employed for conducting the research and data was obtained using a questionnaire. The results indicate that the faculty members and research scholars use library as well as internet for their information needs. Print as well as e-resources are used by them and the most used sources are general books, reference books, journal articles and theses. English is the preferred language for seeking information. Training and awareness programmes are necessary for optimum utilization of library resources.
