Abstract

Mass multiplication of Trichoderma harzianum was carried out by using different substrates. Rice bran (94.83 cfu) and FYM (90.33) were found good supporter for faster multiplication as evidenced by higher number of propagules per gram as well as faster coverage of substrates by T. harziamum. Mass inoculum of T. harzianum required for field application was prepared by using farm yard manure (FYM) as a substrate. Inoculum of 30 days age showed maximum population of T. harzianum (31.89). The unsterilized FYM (50.67) was found to support maximum growth of T. harzianum as compared to sterilized FYM (13.12). Amongst different methods used for application of T. harzianum in field, combination of seed treatment and application to soil (2.25) was found superior than other methods. Population of T. harzianum was also found to be increasing up to 60 days from sowing and then declined. Drastic reduction in the population of T. harzianum was observed during crop fallow period.
