Abstract The dietary habits of the families in the city of Hilla and the impact of cultural and scientific factors on the habits and the effects of bad dietary habits on the health of society were studied. The results showed that education and raising the awareness of health at home has a significant impact on the type of nutrition and the type of food consumed by the individual in the family, where eating healthy foods of fruits, vegetables and fish of great benefit to humans in return for the consumption of large amounts of rice and bread and fat-filled foods in nonfamilies which increases the incidence of overweight (obesity) among members of these families, making them more susceptible to diseases of high cholesterol and blood pressure and diabetes.
