Verbal, physical and sexual abuse affects psychological well being of the homeless children: A study Dr. Mondal Debasis Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Khudiram Bose Central College, Kolkata, West Bengal Online published on 21 June, 2017. Abstract The present paper has attempted to study that the present scenario of child abuse that is taken place at recent times in Indian society. The main objectives of this paper is (a) To identify the causes behind homelessness, (b) to study different types of abuses those are mostly taking place in the society, (c) to examine the effect of verbal, physical and sexual abuse among the homeless children in India. Secondary data has utilized to fulfil the purpose of this research study. The data were collected from the extensive reviews of the books, journals, reports and some published and unpublished research work. The present study concludes that children living and working in the street are suffered immensely from psychological problems. They are highly victimized of verbal, physical and sexual abuses in this contemporaneous society. As a result, they suffer from depression, anxiety, self-hypnosis, disassociation and self mutilation which ensure social isolation of the homeless children.
